The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department provides strategic support to the Vice-President, Operations and Finance, and plays a central coordination role for the University’s Crisis Management Group (CMG).
The CMG comprises senior academic and administrative leaders and is accountable for institution-wide decision-making related to the response to, and recovery from, significant incidents affecting the University community.
This mandate is operationalized through the Crisis Management Plan (CMP), which establishes a structured and integrated framework for crisis governance. The CMP is
designed to ensure effective, timely, and coordinated responses, while supporting organizational resilience, continuity of operations, and alignment with McMaster University’s broader governance and strategic priorities.
